Winter 1642

It all began with a knock at the door. A mysterious stranger calls, and the deadly game begins, changing lives forever.

In the dead of night, during a terrible snowstorm, a shadowy figure steps out of a small cottage on the edge of a dark wood. A black cat sitting inside on the windowsill watches as the figure disappears into the frozen wilderness, never to be seen again.

Struggling young publisher Ella receives a message from the past leading her to a lonely old cottage where a secret has lain hidden for hundreds of years. Someone is determined the secret shall be known. Ella finds herself drawn into a web of greed and deceit centuries old.

Scared and alone, abandoned in a busy town, a small dog sets out to find a new life learning along the way about trust, friendship and time travelling cats. Stanley’s quest becomes a big adventure when he meets some unconventional new friends determined to solve the mystery of ‘Old Mother Time’ and her cottage hidden deep within the Lost Wood, discovering local legends may not be all they seem.

An ancient manuscript holds the only clues to what really happened all those years ago, but will time shine a light on the truth, and will Stanley find the one thing he is desperate for – a new home.
